Sveaskog works to maintain the sustainable development of fishing on its land, and it safeguards living environments to facilitate biological diversity.
All activities concerning fish and fishing shall be carried out in a biological and ethical manner in order to facilitate the development of naturally reproductive fish stocks. We develop fish resources through a number of fish conservation measures, both our own and together with other interested parties.
Examples of fish conservation measures:
-
restore watercourses after timber floating
-
remove migration obstacles
-
improve spawning grounds
-
introduce suitable fishing regulations and control
Some of the revenue from our commercial operations is used for fish conservation measures. This is for the purpose of creating favourable conditions for long term and sustainable fishing. It concerns creating conditions for natural reproduction through the restoration of timber floating water courses, spawning grounds and the removal of obstacles from migration paths. In some cases we restock in order to provide for good fishing. And, in addition, we are involved in a number of local fish conservation projects.
